BLOCKS & PUNCHES

Age-uke   – Rising Block

Enpi uchi  – Elbow Strike

Gedan barai – Downward sweeping block

Gedan uke   – Downward block

Ken            – Fist

Ken Tsui     – Hammer fist

Kagi zuki     – Hook punch

Uchi            – Strike

Uchi uke      – Inside block (starts from inside body and goes to outside)

Soto uke      – Outside block ( starts from outside body and goes inside)

Shuto uke    – Knife hand block

Oi zuki        – Lunge punch

KICKS

Keri           -Kicking

Mae           – Front

Mae Geri    – Front kick

Mawashi Geri – Round kick

Mikazuki Geri – Crescent Kick

Yoko Geri – Side Kick

Yoko keage – Side snap kick

Yoko kebanashi – Side snap to lower area

Yoko kekome   – Side thrust kick

STANCES

Zenkutsu – Front stance

Kiba dachi – Horse stance (toes turned in slightly)

Seiko dachi – Horse stance (toes turned out)

Kokutso dachi – Back stance

Nako dachi  – Cat stance

Hiza dachi – Front stance but heels of front foot and back foot in line

Fudo dachi (aka Sochin dachi) – rooted stance ( looks like a forward facing side stance)

Sanchin Dachi – Short hour glass stance

Hangetsu Dachi – Long hour glass stance

Renoji Dachi – L shaped stance

Hachi Dachi – open leg stance

Heisoku Dachi – feet closed together facing forward

Musubi Dachi – heels together toes facing outward at 45 degrees
